Please encourage folx to leave a voice message if they happen to reach our voicemail. We will call back as soon as possible.

Please see below for information and the flyer attached to this email:

Fostering Grief Ready Workplaces: A Starter Kit for Mental Health and School Mental Health Leadership

A Four-Part Study & Discussion Series

March 5, 12, 19, & 26, 2024

• • • • •

Our workplaces experience loss, bereavement, and grief: whether it is an employee who is anticipating or healing from the death of a family member or friend, staff mourning the loss of a colleague, or a team experiencing losses in clients and community, our workplace wellness is predicated on how grief ready we are.

Fostering Grief Ready Workplaces: A Starter Kit for Mental Health and School Mental Health Leadership (2023) aims to provide essential ingredients to guide you and your organization through the basics of supporting a grieving workforce.

The Pacific Southwest MHTTC welcomes you to this unique four-part “text study series” in which we dive into the starter kit and, through dialogue, discourse, and discussion, explore ways in which we can become more grief ready. We’ll spend time with the practical activities and strategies you can employ as well as reflection questions to drive the work.

School is In-Session: A Series of Workshops on Trauma Informed Approaches & Practices to Steer into and Through This School Year

March 20 - April 24, 2024

We’re back! In August & September of 2023, we hosted a Back-to-School Trauma Informed Practice Series. Now that the school year is midway, join the Pacific Southwest MHTTC for Trauma-Informed Approaches & Practices to Steer Into and Through This School Year, a special six-part workshop series designed to offer deep dives into what it means to be trauma-informed in this moment, future directions for the work, and ways to deepen our praxis (theory into action) for our school communities.

Throughout March and April 2024, our region offers six learning opportunities through diverse and dynamic workshops:

  1. A text study (SAMHSA’s new practice guide for trauma-informed work!)
  2. A workshop on designing and implementing trauma informed bullying interventions
  3. Trauma-informed school counseling practices (for pre-service students and in-service providers)
  4. An exploration of Narrative Exposure Therapy
  5. Partnering with families and caregivers for student mental health and wellness
  6. Equity-centered coaching so that we as adults experience the support and care we hope to offer our students

Find out more about each workshop and register for one, some or all.

Our region will be offering a special one-day symposium on harm reduction and mental health approaches on May 7 (International Harm Reduction Day).

The symposium will feature an opening speaker, a workshop, a panel, and a moderated discussion.
