School Safety & Prevention

Tree Branch with Ice

Extreme weather conditions like those we've recently witnessed can have a profound impact on schools, from physical safety concerns to the emotional impact of stress and uncertainty on students, families, and staff. Community solidarity becomes crucial during these times, and I have been fortunate to witness collaborative efforts between schools and community members to ensure safety and well-being and to support students as we welcome them back to school this week. Events like these highlight the need for awareness, preparedness, and collaboration when responding to safety concerns. Explore the resources below for consultation, support, and valuable learning opportunities dedicated to ensuring school safety, fostering mental health, and proactively preventing crises.

Good Afternoon,

Several weeks ago, I sent a save the date email for the Healing and Unifying Family Summit.   Today I am happy to officially invite you to the event!  Attached is a PDF document with a link to register.

As a reminder Muslim Educational Trust and Oregon Department of Human Services are partnering to host a the first forum for our community partners who are dedicated to ensuring families in our community remain safe, stable and stay together.  As you know there are many challenges in systems serving children and families, whether it is how they are treated by government entities, cultural differences that increase the chances of families being dismantled, or hiring and training folks that understand and represent the communities they serve.   The goal of this summit is to host a space for our community to identify how we can collaborate to reduce the number of children in foster homes and prevent families from entering into Child Welfare systems.  We are excited to invite organizations we believe are integral in bettering outcomes for the families and children in our community.

This summit is scheduled for 2/15/2024 from 9AM-3PM and will take place at the Muslim Educational Trust.  We will have guest and panel speakers as well as opportunities for community members to come together and discuss solutions.  Lunch will be provided so if you are a panel and/or guest speaker please register so we can include your lunch order.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you have questions or need additional information,
