Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Facilitator Trainings:
*SAVE THE DATES!*
March 11-13, Virtual Facilitator Training
June 12-14, In Person Facilitator Training, location TBD
Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) is a comprehensive, integrated, multi-tactic crisis intervention approach to managing critical incident stress after a traumatic event. CISM can include individual and group support as well as education and coping techniques. Originally developed to assist in the emotional stabilization of first responders, CISM is now used with a variety of populations and professions after a traumatic event or during crisis intervention. Oregon has also begun offering CISM to youth-serving adults after a youth suicide death.
The Association of Oregon Community Mental Health Programs(AOCMHP) is offering low-cost ($75) CISM facilitator training to county and community mental health program staff, suicide prevention coalitions, key social service agencies, and other community-based organizations that may provide support during crisis, with a focus on suicide postvention response. Prospective facilitators will attend the 3-day Assisting Individuals in Crisis & Group Crisis Intervention training from the International Citical Incident Stress Foundation (a $675 value).
Please email Kris Bifulco if you are interested in attending- there will be an application process and need-based stipends available: kbifulco@aocmhp.org
