My name is Marissa and I work with the Center for Community Engagement at Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling. I am getting in touch to share a few upcoming professional development opportunities offered by the TransActive Gender Project.
TGP provides a holistic range of services and expertise to help empower transgender and gender-expansive children, youth, and their families in living healthy lives free of discrimination.
I invite you to share this information with Tualatin-Tigard educators and staff, and welcome any questions you may have about the workshop details below.

This workshop with Jenn Burleton of TransActive Gender Project will examine the escalation of anti-trans hate, legislation, and activities directed at transgender and gender diverse children, youth, and adults; explore how such rhetoric can intensify existing trauma in these populations; and discuss similarities to other historical tactics of oppression used against minority populations. Those working with trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive populations will learn to better identify and decipher anti-trans disinformation, and will identify evidence-based approaches to supporting and affirming gender-expansive clients, students, and families. Supporting Gender Expansive Students: Implementing the ODE 2023 Guidelines
Saturday, March 2, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Online | 4 PDUs
Earlier this year the ODE released updated guidelines on establishing inclusive environments for gender expansive students in PK-12 schools. This workshop will provide administrators, educators, and staff with the information and methodology they need to effectively implement these guidelines within their district, school, and community, with plenty of time set aside for audience Q&A to address what educators have been encountering in their respective school environments. Details: $74. Alumni save 20%. Discounted group rate registration available.
