Upcoming Training/Meeting Opportunities


Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor Training:

3-Day In-Person YMHFA Instructor training in Salem, OR

December 5-7th 8-5pm each day; Please fill out the Instructor Training Interest Form or email Maria mpos@aocmhp.org to be contacted when space is available. Space limited, registration deadline: November 8, 2023

Prerequisite: Complete the individual MHFA course prior to T4T


Spanish Mental Health First Aid Trainings:

We will be hosting a Spanish Youth Mental Health First Aid and a

Spanish Adult Mental Health First Aid training. Please indicate interest here


AOCMHP also hosts a Spanish Trainer Collaborative the second Tuesday of every month from 1-2pm. Bilingual Spanish trainers are welcome to join this group to discuss support and needs for Spanish mental health and suicide prevention trainings. Discussions include community training needs, instructor/trainer support, networking, and cultural adaptation and implementation of trainings. Next meeting November 14th at 1pm

Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Trainer Collaborative:

This space is dedicated to BIPOC instructors and trainers of various training programs to focus on networking, learning best practices, increasing accessibility to relevant community-based trainings, and learning how to identify and decrease barriers to access. Next meeting December 14th 2pm

Advanced Skill Training Available: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Training


AOCMHP is hosting this FREE DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) Training: (4-day VirtualDec 14, 15, 18, 19, 20238:00-4:30pm PDT each day (includes a 60-minute break for lunch) (Valued at $430 per person) from our OHA grant funding for Advanced Clinical Skill trainings.


Four-Day training to include DBT Skills and detailed focus on suicide assessment/prevention/intervention: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a highly efficacious treatment developed by Marsha M. Linehan, PhD for multi-diagnostic, severely disordered individuals with borderline personality disorder and other challenges of emotion dysregulation. Recent studies have shown that DBT skills, when provided in the context of a comprehensive DBT program, are highly effective at reducing suicidal behaviors and improving treatment outcomes. 

Audience: This is for all mental health professionals working with clients/patients and can include: Clinicians, Counselors, Couple and Family Therapists, Health Care Administrators, Mental Health Professionals, Psychotherapists, Social Workers, Peer Support Specialists, Child and Family Therapists, School Based Counselors, and Skill Trainers

 CEs are included at no additional cost to attendees:  Portland DBT Institute will be offering 7 CE credit hours through NBCC for this training for each training day

Mobile Crisis Staff interested in taking the New Mobile Crisis Training, please fill out this Interest Form to be notified when training is available. Virtual Training will be planned for spring 2024.


Motivational Interviewing Training for Mobile Crisis Staff:

Virtual webinar 5-part training available for Mobile Crisis staff including QMHPs, QMHAs, and Peers.  Please contact Lucina Armstrong Michaud lmichaud@aocmhp.org for trainings.

The Alliance published a Suicide Prevention Equity Screening Tool for organizations to use. Go here to read and download. 


The Oregon Health Authority and AOCMHP partnered to award Suicide Prevention Grant funding to groups across the state.  Funding included Suicide Prevention Coalition Grants, Zero Suicide Grants, and Older Adults in Rural Communities Grants. Click here for more info!
